Magnets

Since I've really gotten into all this papercraft crap, I've wanted to find other uses for the stamps. One thing I've come up with is magnets. Using flat magnets, like those you sometimes find with business cards, you can make very pretty images.

I got these large flat magnets in some craft kit ages ago, and had yet to find a use for them. So I took some cardstock that I liked, and Mod Podged it on. It's very pretty, despite my poor cutting job, but kind of impersonal.

So I pulled out this Winnie the Pooh stamp I had, and thought it would be great to make into a magnet for my niece to hang her artwork on the fridge. I used StazOn so the Mod Podge wouldn't make it run, and colored it with colored pencils.

Here's the finished magnet, plus two more that I made for others.

Paper Cup Wreath

All the cup wreaths I've seen were made by nesting the cups within each other, so I wanted to try to make one more like a starburst. I got almost all of the items at the dollar store. I used: paper cups, circular floral foam, colored tissue paper, thumb tacks, pins, and scissors.

I wrapped the tissue paper around the floral foam, tacking it in place, until the whole thing was covered.

Then I cut the cups in half long ways.

And pinned them to the foam through the bottom of the cup.

Below is the final wreath. In the end, I didn't even like it enough to use it, but maybe someone will run with the idea and make something better.

Secret Bathroom Stash

Our only downstairs bathroom is a tiny half bath with no built in cabinets, and little room for any stand alone storage. I could have bought something, but after already having a basket/shelf that was perfect, I decided to just go with that.

The problem? No place to hide feminine products. Yes, I'm talking about pads and tampons. While I'm wiling to let spare tp sit exposed in a pretty stand, I really don't want those little yellow packages on display.

The solution? Gift boxes! Tampons fit perfectly in a bracelet box. I had a gold one that went well with the red paint in the bathroom. For the pads, I didn't have the right gift box, but I had an empty box of chocolates that was the perfect size. So I pulled out some gold and white wrapping paper, glued a piece the the top, and it fit right in.

Old Clothes on Display

I'd always been interested in displaying old shirts the way DIY TV shows create fabric wall art, but I never got around to buying canvas frames or a staple gun. Then I realized there are easier ways.

1) Use a picture frame. Just remove the glass, cut the fabric using the backing as a template, and pop it into place. You may need to tape the fabric to the backing to keep it still while you secure it.

2) Use an embroidery hoop. I paint mine to complement the fabric first. Here are two ways to hide excess fabric before hanging:
